Two and a half

They're fighting again. I know because I can hear the angry words.

I don't know what they are saying. I'm only two and a half. But I can feel the emotions, and while I may not understand them entirely, I recognize the warmth that radiates from them.

It's not a happy warmth like wearing a coat in the fall, or a mug of coco by a smoldering fire...

No.

It's uncomfy warm.

Like a pillow at night, that was stuck in the sun. Or a heavy blanket in the middle of summer.

I feel the warmth.

I may not understand the words.

But there's a redness that I can feel.

A red like closing your eyes and looking at the sun. It's painful.

They're fighting again and it makes me scared.

All I can do is sit, awake, and worry if it's my fault.

Was it because I threw my food on the floor and the puppy ate it? Or because I cried too much when I was going to bed?

Did I make them warm and red at each other?

I'm afraid and I can't sleep.

Sometimes when I do fall asleep I still hear them. In my head. I know they are sleeping too but I can still feel the warmth.

The words don't mean anything but I can tell they are unhappy.

All I can say is I'm sorry.

But

I don't know how.

I still feel like I'm sorry and I don't know how to show it.

Please don't be warm at each other. Don't be red...
